An open letter to The Nigerian’s government

 

To President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan

 

The news of the more than 200 girl’s abduction from a Nigerian school last month by the Islamists extremists’ armed group Boko Haram has simply shocked the world.  A month has passed since the girls were kidnapped, and your behaviour as well as Patience Jonathan´s, the first lady, by wasting time downplaying the crisis and lying about these girls' fates had added to the consternation. This happened when you, along with your government should be reaching out for help.

 

Your government had subjected the families’ of the abducted girls who call on Nigerian’s government to help secure the safe release of the girls, to threat and harassment. The international community has accused you and your government of not acting swiftly or efficiently enough to protect the kidnapped girls.

 

There is documented evidence that the military authorities in the state Borno were aware of the terrorist attack, but the military did not show any preventive measures in order to pursue the terrorists’ organization Boko Haram.

 

You should know that the world stands with the girls’ families in demanding their immediate release.

 

We undersigned, Children First Now, the International Campaign for Children’s rights call on the Nigerian government and demand authorities do everything in their power to secure the girls' release immediately. This is your and Nigerian’s government task and responsibility.

Doublerobotics har tillverkat en "robot" med namnet Double som påminner om en Segway. Allt du behöver göra är att placera Double på kontoret och ansluta en Ipad högst upp, sedan kan du hålla möten med dina kollegor hemifrån soffan. Styr gör du från din dator, surfplatta eller mobil.

Double kostar 2 500 dollar, eller ungefär 16 000 kronor. Till det tillkommer frakt på cirka 2 000 kronor plus en Ipad.

'They are hanging to life' - Saudi king's ex-wife speaks out

Exclusive: in her first television interview, the former wife of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia claims her four daughters have suffered years trapped in the royal compound in Jeddah.

Channel 4 News has broadcast the first television interview with the former wife of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, writes Fatima Manji.

She has gone public about what she claims is years of abuse against their four daughters. It is an extraordinary insight into the House of Saud, a secretive dynasty, which has held absolute power for more than 80 years.

Princess Alanoud Al Fayez was married to King Abdullah at the age of 15. It was a marriage arranged by her uncle and she had never laid eyes on him until their wedding day. Soon she had four daughters - princesses Sahar, Maha, Hala and Jawaher (pictured above) - but no son.

The girls led a privileged childhood - skiing trips in the Alps, visits abroad. But after their mother was divorced by the king, she says things deteriorated and she eventually fled to London.

Trapped

For the last 13 years the girls say they have been trapped in the royal compound in Jeddah. They cannot leave without armed guards and are barred from leaving the country.

Their mother has not seen them in person for a decade. She tells me: "They are really in a terrible state, especially Jawaher and Sahar. She's telling me, 'Mummy, we are trying to hold on to our sanity'. They are hanging to life. They don't deserve what happened to them."

LinkedIn leaped from 33 million to 225 million users, and Instagram from one million to over 150 million users. In fact, in the span of one minute, there are a hundred thousand new tweets and a hundred new LinkedIn accounts made.
